Tri-State Mercy Campaign

Medical debt is a pervasive issue that impacts countless families and children in Northern Kentucky and the surrounding Tri-State area. In the United States, healthcare costs continue to rise, leaving many families struggling to pay for necessary medical treatment.  According to a 2018 report by the Urban Institute, more than 64 million Americans had medical debt in collections, and nearly one in four adults reported that they or a family member had experienced difficulty paying medical bills. As a result, medical debt has become one of the leading causes of bankruptcy in the country.  In Northern Kentucky and the Tri-State area, the problem is particularly acute.

For families living in poverty, the burden of medical debt can be especially overwhelming. Parents may have to choose between paying for necessary medical treatment for their children or putting food on the table. The stress of medical debt can cause long-lasting impacts on families, including increased rates of depression, anxiety, and stress. Children living in households with medical debt may also experience reduced access to basic needs like food, housing, and education.

Forgiving medical debt for families in need can make a significant difference in their lives. By removing this financial burden, families can focus on their health and well-being without the added stress of debt. With the Tri-County Mercy Campaign, our mission is to provide support to families in need by relieving the burden of medical debt.
