Johnston County Churches Lenten/Easter Campaign

In 2023, the Smithfield Area Churches began gathering on Wednesdays for worship and a meal during the season of Lent. This year, we are excited to add a new aspect to our gatherings, which is almsgiving (the act of sharing what we have with others), and join with other churches around Johnston County to increase our impact. During Lent, we as the church take time to repent and return to God by praying, fasting, meditating in God’s Word, and almsgiving. Our hope for this campaign is to share the good news that we are all in this together! With an understanding of the crippling effects of medical debt, we hope to bring the love of God to our neighbors in need. Our campaign will run through the Season of Lent and into the Season of Easter, as we celebrate and live into the resurrection we are all invited to take part in.

We hope you will join us by contributing (as you are able) to our campaign aimed at alleviating and erasing medical debt in Johnston County. To support you can either click the donate button on this page or mail a check to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (memo line: Undue Medical Debt), 218 S Second St., Smithfield, NC 27577. Thank you for your support and companionship on our journey together to share and spread God’s love.
